Mr. Burney will be provided with a

first class return passage from Hong Kong

funds, and will continue to receive salary at

the rate payable in his substantive appoint-

ment during his absence on the mission, viz:

at the rate of £790 per annum, increasing to

£819 11. 0 per annum from the 1st of

February 1935. In addition to the salary

for the period of Mr. Burney's absence, a

pension contribution at the rate of 20% of

salary will be payable by the colony.

Finally, I have agreed that Mr. Burney's

expenses of subsistence and travel whilst

in Hong Kong will be accepted as a charge

upon Colonial funds and that he will receive

an allowance at the rate of 5 shillings a

day during the time he is at sea, and will be

paid an honorarium of £100 for his services

on the conclusion of his mission.
